NICHE is a research group at Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre. It seeks to strengthen international health systems through policy-relevant and empirically-based research and education.

NICHE was established in 2007, and now hosts some 15 researchers from both the Netherlands and low-income countries. New WHO treatment guidelines on HIV/AIDS reduces annual costs after seven years

Research of NICHE in South-Africa shows that treatment initation at CD4+ cell counts below 350 cells/µl rather than 200 cells/µl require 7% extra annual investments, whereas 28% more patients receive treatment in first five years. A profound impact on HIV incidence reduces annual costs after seven years.
